Before I go . . .

Tomorrow, July 19th, my adventure begins - with a visit to high school friends and family, on my way to Philadelphia.  I'm excited to see everyone and to take my place at the Democratic National Committee Convention next Sunday before the official start on Monday.  Today, of course, I'm tying up loose ends, trying out this blog and packing!  It's predicted to be 98 or 99 degrees, just like the way it was at our family reunion in July, 1999!  And sticky, too!  Can't wait!

  1. Wassreman-Schultz is finally getting her due and more emails may be coming out. But it took the Dem. Party too long to fire her. They are in collusion with her. Even MSNBC said that the best speech at the convention would be Bernie's-Chris Matthews and Rachel both said that yesterday!! Thanks for creating this blog!! Can't wait to hear all the scuttlebut. Are you going to the Single Payer meeting? Is it in conjunction with Bernie meeting with you at the crack of dawn?

  2. Carole,
Thanks for all our newsy posts! I just went to your blog after watching from 3:50-8:40PM PT. I missed the first 50 minutes. I liked many of the speakers, esp. Michelle and the young woman with CP in the wheelchair. (I have been helping paint and set up the new DVC in Mt. View. There's going to be one in RWC.) I liked the fact that Bernie is holding Hillary to various promises like the TPP. It would be embarrassing for her if she reneges on her promises to him. I loved the long standing ovation! I kept switching channels to see who the cameramen were capturing in the huge crowd. CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN shot many of the Bernie delegates. I didn't see Calif. Didn't know where you guys were located. Saw Bernie folks crying. CSPAN interviewd 3 Bernie delegates after the floor was amost clear. One from Washington(a female elected official-very articulate) one from Tennessee and the other from Vermont. They talked about convincing the Bernie or Bust folks to vote so the Donald and his accolytes don't get in. I saw Tim Kaine's speeech yesterday and was impressed so I am voting in Nov. for him(not HIllary. The delegate from Richmond, VA. who did the interview was very complimentaary about Kaine's work in VA. He was asked that VA. is often a battleground state but this delegate thought that VA. would go Dem. Soody Tronson sent me an email that she absolutely won't vote for Hillary but I asked her if she'd seen Kaine's speech at the Florida Univ. I guess you'll see him Wed.(?) Sounds likeyou are having fun-obviously busy schedule! Do you see any of the Bernie- non-delegates like Nassim and Nadia? How is Casey doing? I could hear some folks chanting something during Elizabeth Warren's speech-something like "you didn't follow through"?? What was that all about? I am so glad you set up this blog! Take care and get some rest in al the hullabaloo. And you have been seeing all of our Calif. elected folks. I met John Chiang at a Dem. convention years ago in San Jose when he was running for Comptroller(sp?) and he said he was for Single Payer. Take care!!

  3. Lova your photo!I continue to watch the convention. I kept looking at various shots of the Calif. delegation on the You Tube videos esp. when Jerry Brown did the roll call vote. I recognized Nancy Pelosi, Gloria Allred, Grey Davis, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris(who was interviewed on TV-the MOrning with Joe show on MSNBC), Kevin DeLeon(?). Last night there were at least 4 shots of the CNA nurses in their red T-shirts and Medicare for All signs. I recognized Malinda Markowitz, whom I have known for over 25 years. She lives in San Jose. CSPAN was in the Wells Fargo Center-Media Center where the Bernie or Bust folks were standing or sitting on the floor with "silence" tapes over their mouths. I didn't recognize anyone. Instead of doing interviews with them the cameraman just kept walking around shooting the crowd.
Also saw footage of Bernie folks at an outdoor rally. I also saw that there are many off-site meetings sponsored by many diverse political groups. And the March for Our Lives on the weekend. Amy Goodman had Jill Stein and Ben Jealous, former CEO of the NAACP, on her show last night. Jill is still trying to get Bernie to join the Green Party. She and Ben, who was a Bernie supporter, arguing about him now supporting Hillary and why. Also, Sarah Silverman is getting a lot of flak about her comments to the Bernie or Bust folks MOnday night. I liked the Hillary video of all the singers doing that catchy song.
